Bever Murders Broken Arrow is one of America’s most well-known cold cases for its similar crimes to Jack the Ripper. The murderer’s first known victim was April Bever, who was found in her home with three chest wounds that had severed both of her jugular veins and left her dead. The Family Background

The Bever family lived at a secluded farm in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, that April and David’s parents initially purchased. The property was given to the couple as a wedding gift from their families. The detectives presume that Michael dragged her sister while Robert was stabbing their mother, April. Robert stabbed their mother 48 times in the chest, face, abdomen, arms, and neck.

After getting rid of their mother, the brothers diverted their attention to their siblings. That was Victoria and Christopher, who were hiding in the bathroom. They were frightened by the screams of their mother and sister Crystal.

Michael Bever told detectives that he tricked his siblings into opening the door during the interrogation. He told them that their brother Robert would kill him should they fail to open the door. Immediately they opened the door; they were all stabbed to death. Christopher Bever was stabbed 21 times in the chest, back, neck, and head. The other sibling, Victoria, got 23 stabs in the neck, back, head and chest.

The other victim was Daniel. Daniel hid in his father’s office and managed to call the emergency line 911. He appealed to Daniel to open the door before Robert would kill him.  Daniel opened the door, and he, too, was mercilessly stabbed 21 times in the chest, head, back, and arm.

All these commotions made David Bever come out of his room. Immediately he stepped out of his chamber; Robert got hold of him and stabbed him 28 times on his back, head, chest, and stomach. The Arrest

After Micheal Bever and his older brother, Robert hid behind their house, the police arrived. They did not find the perpetrators prompting them to start looking for them with the help of k9s. They were both caught not far from their home—K9s bit Michael before being arrested.

The Trail

Robert, who seemed to be the Bever murders’ mastermind, pleaded guilty on all charges. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole for each of the five murder counts. In addition, he received an additional life sentence for battery and assault with a deadly weapon charge. He pleaded guilty to avoid the death penalty.

His brother Michael pleaded not guilty, but the court found him guilty, and he was sentenced to life without parole for each of the murders. In addition, he was sentenced to an additional 28 years for felony murder and two counts of assault and battery with a deadly weapon. He said that he had been under his older brother’s influence and was guilty only of the felonies but not guilty of murder. Robert is currently serving time in the Joseph Harp Correctional Center while Michael is in the Lexington Correctional Center. Both the sisters were adopted and are currently doing well.

Aftermath

The House remained empty and guarded by the authorities for two years and was later turned into a reflection park. The incident has been mentioned in many books about Oklahoma’s dark history. It is also widely discussed among Oklahoma University’s American Horror Stories Club students.
